With the collaboration of Municipality of Arnoun Baldati is pleased to invite you to Visit a new Lebanese Southern village
Beaufort Castle stands on a rocky crest above soaring 300-metre precipices amidst enchanting countryside, not far from Mount Hebron and overlooking the Litani River in South Lebanon, south-east of Saïda and one hundred kilometres from Beirut, the Lebanese capital.
Beaufort Castle, in Arabic Qalaat el-Shekif is a mighty fortress standing on a strategic site on the roads of Tyre and the South The view all around is panoramic and enough to take anyone's breath away.
The Crusaders took possession of it in 1139 .... Beaufort changed hands several times.
Beaufort is part of the national heritage. One may visit and admire this unique site, and go round it to see it from the eastern and north-eastern sides from the road that goes to Marjeyoun.
من الخردلي الى قلعة الشقيف. القلعة الأشهر والأجمل في الجنوب. قلعة الشقيف، تلك القلعة الشامخة والتي تغسل اقدامها في نهر الليطاني منذ الأزل. وهي من أهم المعالم الأثرية في بلدة أرنون. أرنون التي كانت أول قرية جنوبية تحررت في العام 2000 فألهم تحريرها الفنان خالد الهبر فغنى لها. وإختارتها الفنانة جوليا بطرس لإقامة مهرجان التحرير في العام 2000. تشرف القلعة على النبطية، وادي الخردلي وسهلي مرجعيون و الحولة. عبارة عن شير صخري ومشيدة بين الصخور فلا يراها القريب منها فيما هي معلم يرى من مسافات بعيدة. تعلو 700 متر عن سطح البحر وقد بناها الرومان وزاد الصليبيون أبنيتها، ورممها فخر الدين المعني الثاني. وتسمى القلعة الجميلة ( Beaufort). ويطلق عليها أيضاً لقب " وكر النسور"
We will start the hike from Litani River El Khardaleh .
The beginning of the track is quite a steep uphill, but then it becomes much easier. We will climb all the way up to the castle. This track demands physical competence. Once in the castle we will have sufficient time to visit it thoroughly .
After visiting the citadel KARIATY NGO is inviting us to a traditional lunch (saj....) after having lunch all together we will visit the village .
