Tripoli Youth Forum had successfully representedTripoli in the Beirut International Marathon held on Sunday, December 6, 2009, launching and running for its project under preparation: Tripoli A Touristic City.

Youth Forum’s participation was under the intriguing title of “Mrokbi Land Seals the Deal” in reference to Tripoli’s support of the Copenhagen Conference for Climate Change taking place the very next day on December 7^th, as tourism and environment are two correlated issues of local concern.

Tripoli was named “Mrokbi Land” since lemons in the “tripolitan” dialect are referred to as “Mrokbi” as they used to historically enter the city via boats or (marakeb). 

Despite the rainy weather conditions, Youth Forum remained determined to convey its message and commit to its cause of linking Tripoli to the rest of Lebanon and placing it on the country’s tourism map.

شارك منبر الشباب في تمثيل طرابلس في ماراتون بيروت الدولي نهار الأحد 6 كانون الأول 2009 مطلقاً مشروعه قيد التحضير بعنوان: طرابلس مدينة سياحية.

و قد ركض المنبر تحت عنوان "مدينة المروكبي تقرّ الاتفاق" معبراً عن تأييد طرابلس لمؤتمر تغيير المناخ الذي يبدأ أعماله في كوبنهاغن في اليوم التالي أي في السابع من كانون الأول، نسبةً لترابط موضوعي السياحة و البيئة و أهميتهما محلياً.

 و قد لقّبت طرابلس بمدينة "المروكبي" كون أهلها يسمّون الحامض بالمروكبي في لهجتهم الطرابلسية إذ أنّه يحكى أنّ أصل الكلمة تأتي من أنّ الحامض كان يدخل طرابلس عبر المراكب.

على الرغم من رداءة الطقس الماطر، أصرّ منبر الشباب المضي قدماّ للتعبير عن التزامه بقضية وضع طرابلس على خريطة لبنان السياحية و مدّ جسور تواصل ما بين طرابلس و باقي لبنان.
