Chebaa is an Aramean name meanon “water abundance” and “brook”. Among the many possible origins of the name, we can cite the verb “chabiaaé”, meaning “to replete”, “wufra” meaning “abundance” or the number 7, pronouced “sabaa” in arabic and linked to seven springs • Al Jawz ,Al Maghara • Ain Al Jdidé • Nabaat Al Katee • Ain Al Charkiyé • Ain Flaskin • Anissé plan A We will start our day by a smooth hike After hiking we will visit the old mills to see how wheat used to be grinded in water mills. Then we will visit‘Nabe3 el Mghara & Nabe3 Aain el Jawez’ it ‘s a beautiful calm, and untouched nature just we need to sit and relax, and listen to the sound of water. plan B In Case of bad weather baldati.com will switch to Plan B: We will start by a visit to Fatima Gate near Kafarkela, and after to El Khaim Prison,Ebel es saqi Lebanese peasant house, Souk el Khan between near to Hasbaya, After to Saray al-Shihabi in Hasbaya.To Romanian temple in Hebariya and follow the road to Chebaa to visit water mills.
Chebaa is located in the Al Aarc oub region, as well as the following villages: •Hebariyé •Kfar Hamam •Rachaya Al Foukhar •Kfar Chouba •Al Fardis •Al Mari .It is located 135 km from Beirut, at the heart of the Jabal El Cheikh mountains, and in a thin an unsurmountable natural stronghold. Altitude varies between 1350 m and 1650 m. The city is covered with snow during almost all winter. The Chebaa town covers a territory border North by Youn Janaam ; South-West by Ain Ata, Khalwat, East Jabal el Cehikh mounts to the Houla lake, Banias, Tall el Kadi, Ghajar and Abbasiye villages ; West by Hebariye, Aine Kenya and Chwaya ; South and South-East by Majdel Chams and Jbata Al Zayt.The town of Chebaa has a rectangle shape which width would be 3 to 7 km and length 22 to 25 km. Chebaa is said to be the most populated city in the Jabal El Cheikh area, with 25,000 inhabitants, from which 11,035 voters and 10,000 emigrants.Chebaa is well known for the variety of its climate. Winter is very cold in the highest areas where snow and black ice are common, and tempered in the lowest areas, closer to the Houla plain. Summer is mild, though sometimes warm.Agriculture and livestock farming are very diverse, thanks to the climate. Mountain fields are ideal for fruit trees such as cherries, pears, apples, plums, walnuts, olives as well as for certain cereals. Lower areas a great for the culture of oranges, peanuts, citrus fruit. Furthermore, thousands of goats, famous for their adaptation to hard natural conditions, graze peacefully in the region.Chebaa is full of testimonies of ancient occupation, built by the former region's inhabitants, such as roman temples on the mountain tops, most important being the temple built on the Jabal El Cheik summit, at an altitude of 2814 m, and currently known as Kasr Antar or Chbib. Some still call it the roman crematorium.Columns, ruins and sculpted rocks can also be seen on other hills. Chebaa is also famous as a place of worship for all religions, as Jesus appeared of the Jabal Haramoun summits. A chapel, consecrated to the prophet Abraham, is located of a beautiful oak covered hill, close to the Ramtha farm, one of the Chebaa farms. It is till now an important pilgrimage site. This is where Abraham divided the bird in four pieces and spread them on the four surrounding mountains, which got closer after he had called them. This story is reminded in the Koran. Several ancient mills, olive-presses as well as an old church and an old mosque can also be seen in the city.Chebaa's town council as created in 1952.
