Saida was known as - Sidon during the Phoenician era and now is considered as the largest city in south Lebanon and ranks the third in Lebanon. Saida is one of the ancient Lebanese cities. You can find a lot of historical sites in Saida such as the castle, the Egyptian harbor, Ashmon’s Temple and lot of other sites. Nowadays Saida still plays a very important role exactly as it did at the time of the Phoenicians. Today Saida is a governorate and a Caza at the same time. Saida is one of the prominent cities in Lebanon, it’s considered to be the capital of the south. In addition to tourism, Saida is known for the good quality of the citrus fruits planted in there.
