Baldati

Freike is a village in Metn District of Mount Lebanon. Twenty kilometers away from Beirut, its altitude is 500 meters above the sea with approximately 1200 habitants. Freike is a village known for the agriculture of grapes, fig trees, and olive trees. It gave Lebanon, other than Ameen Rihani, well known figures in the Arab media during the first half of the twentieth century, namely Na’oum and Salloum Moukarzel the owners of Al-Huda newspaper in New York. The Silk factory that was owned by Fares Rihani, father of Ameen, at the end of the nineteenth century is now owned by the theatre producer Mounir Abu Debs where cultural activities are organized regularly. Freike diligently preserves the Birth Place and the Museum of Ameen Rihani.
